Understanding Bias

Title IX requires investigators to be impartial. Yet, Title IX investigations naturally and understandably stir up powerful emotions and attitudes that affect everyone involved — the parties, the witnesses, and the investigators.

The resulting investigations have long-lasting repercussions for all of the people involved. The importance of the investigator’s role in these complexities cannot be overstated – and that requires the investigator to know and understand their own biases, reactions, and perspectives.

Keith Rohman, Senior Trainer with T9 Mastered, will take you on a practical and eye-opening journey through the land of human biases, focusing on the unique challenges that Title IX investigators face. Keith also shares the lessons and techniques that he’s learned and developed over years to recognize investigative biases and keep them in check. This session addresses:

  • The profound effect biases have on the investigative process.
  • Dealing with the investigator’s personal views about sex, intoxication, and drug use.
  • Methods to cope with investigator biases.
Keith Rohman, Senior Trainer with T9 Mastered, will take you on a practical and eye-opening journey through the land of human biases, focusing on the unique challenges that Title IX investigators face.
The next T9 Mastered: Essentials training will be held in Pasadena, CA, November 4–6
