Hearing Officer Training
from T9’s Remote Classroom

October 6-7 (Thu-Fri), 2022
9:00 am – 4:30 pm (PDT) each day

As Colleges and Universities continue to adapt to the hearing model for sexual violence matters, Title IX practitioners—both internal and external—are being called upon to adjudicate these hearings, either remotely or in-person.

T9 Mastered’s Hearing Officer Training prepares individuals to serve in the Hearing Officer role, enhances the skills of those already in the role, and provides important and helpful information to campus constituents learning about the hearing process. Over two days, T9 faculty Liz DeChellis, an experienced Hearing Officer, will lead attendees through this practical and engaging program. Participants will learn all aspects of the hearing model in the campus context. They will understand the reasons why the Hearing Officer model was adopted by the Department of Education, how to read and interpret evolving campus policies, and strategies for interacting with parties either in person or virtually. Participants will leave this training with a T9 Mastered certificate of completion, an opportunity to run a mock hearing in the Hearing Officer role, and the following tools:

  • An understanding of the different Hearing Officer models
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches in the hearing context
  • Hearing Officer roles and responsibilities
  • Managing the questioning process
  • Running a hearing in an empathetic, student-centric, and policy-compliant manner

Registration

  • Early Registration: $1500 (until Sep 23, 2022)
  • Regular registration: $1650 (Sep 24-Oct 6, 2022)

Discount rates available for multiple attendees from the same campus, company or organization. Please contact Joan Hamasu at joan@t9mastered or call (916) 245-2577 for more information and/or to receive a discount code for your organization.
