Ruth Jones has focused on gender equity throughout her legal career, most recently by concentrating on Title IX advocacy as the Title IX Coordinator at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
Ruth began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office prosecuting domestic violence, child sexual abuse and street crimes. From there she served as a Staff Attorney at NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund (NOW LDEF). At NOW LDEF, she focused on violence against women, employment discrimination, reproductive rights and gender equity in education.
Ruth also served as a Professor of Law for 18 years as a member of the University of the Pacific, McGeorge Law School faculty. She taught criminal law, criminal procedure, gender and the law, and supervised students representing battered women in the McGeorge Community Legal Services clinic.
A graduate of Smith College and UCLA School of Law, Ruth is a member of the California, New York State and U. S. Supreme Court Bars.
